Member Business Spotlight: Chicago Web Factory
Is your business looking to achieve a better online presence? Chicago Web Factory helps small businesses increase the number of customers they get online. Additionally they design, construct and host websites, Google Place Pages, and Facebook Business Pages.
Chicago Web Factory Owner Tom O'Reilly says his mission is to help Chicago area businesses develop leads online. "All of our customers are on Google's 1st Page and are getting calls every day from new customers searching for their services," he says.
The best benefit Chicago Web Factory clients receive is a return on their online investment, O'Reilly says. "So many businesses put up websites and expect the leads to immediately follow. Your website is like a billboard in the forest, if you can't be found by the search engines, no one will know it is there until you trip over it. We place customer websites on the first page of Google search results so that customers can easily find them."
Tom is offering a special offer to CCC friends and fans: 15% off all online services for CCC members plus a free copy of “The 7-Step Guide to Get Found On-Line By Your Targeted Prospects in Your Local Market.” Additionally, Chicago Web Factory is now offering a "Get On Google Maps Special Promotion." Google Maps is an important part of a small business SEO strategy, especially for locally based brick and mortar businesses.

E-Recycling Event 04/21: Help Save The Earth & You Can Win A New Tablet
For Immediate Release April 12, 2012: Help Save The Earth & You Can Win A New Tablet
Chicago Computer Club is sponsoring an e-waste recycling event on Saturday, April 21st from 10 am to 2 pm. In partnership with 4th Ward Alderman William Burns’ office, the retail computer store chain will be accepting old computers, monitors, and printers at the 4th Ward Facilities Building at 4352 South Cottage Grove Avenue. The event is located in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago. Residents who bring in old computers or peripherals for recycling will receive coupons from local south Chicago businesses as well as enter into a raffle, with the winner receiving a new premium Android Tablet.
Additionally, all computers brought in are guaranteed to be clean wiped by Chicago Computer Club’s recycling partner, Chicago Surplus Computer, one of the city’s largest e-recyclers. This will ensure that any personal information on the computer will be deleted.
“E-waste is a growing problem,” says Andre McDearmon, Chicago Computer Club’s Recycling Manager and Lead Technician. “You can’t throw computers and other electronics in a landfill without causing detrimental environmental impact. Not to mention you can now be fined by the City of Chicago if you put e-waste items, like used computers, in with the regular trash.”
Mcdearmon says that the event is part of Chicago Computer Club’s ongoing commitment to minimizing the environmental impact of computers. “As one of Chicago’s largest computer repair shops, we can attest to the growing problem of e-waste, because our stores are often involved in the end of life of computers. We see first hand how it adds up quickly, the sheer volume of computers that are no longer functional.”
E-waste recycling is the missing piece of the puzzle to reducing the amount of old computers and accessories that end up in land fills, says Mcdearmon. “People don’t have access, or just don’t know where to recycle their used computers and related hardware. Plus people tend to have a lot of information stored on their old computers, and they’re scared it might fall into the wrong hands. Our recycler, Chicago Computer Surplus, is one of the best in the city and makes sure that all computer hard drives are wiped clean before being repurposed.”
Mcdearmon adds that most recycled computers do get repurposed. It is estimated that upwards of 85% of each recycled computer can be reused productively in other computer and network applications.
“Recycling your computer has a double benefit,” he says, “It reduces toxic waste in our landfills, and also prevents future waste by repurposing parts to functioning computer systems.”
In addition to E-recycling, residents will also be able to shred documents, credit cards, and other paper items that they don’t wish to put in the usual trash recycling bin. That service will be provided by Midway Movers.
